Okay, guys, we need to establish a few things up front:

1- Stop giving yourselves equipment that's not on the list.

If you want it, just ask. I will either say no or I will make you pay gold for it. Some of you have already asked, so you know this is how it works. That's how the game works for all of us. I've already given some nice freebies. As DM, it's my job to not just run the game but also make sure it's run fairly for everyone.

2 - I have presented you with several roleplaying opportunities and no one took the bite (well, Random nibbled). I presumed this meant that you wanted more roll and less role in your rpg.

Yet, some of you are more than willing to back-track and re-write what I have short-handed to get things moving for you.

Let me know which you want. Roll or role?

If you don't make your wishes known, then you're going to have to go along with what I am doing with all seven of us in mind. Because, yes, I am a player too.

I enjoy both role and roll playing, but I find role playing that seems forced and predetermined uninteresting. My preferred method of role play comes from situations presented in game that characters seek out, rather than coming from a predetermined backstory. That's just me though.

1. I've added only the key to my room, but I figure you're probably talking about clothing specifics, or perhaps the bedroll I spied (I didn't think that was on the list).

2. The age-old question, eh? I enjoy "role" playing, but everyone has their own definition for that. I mean that the fun for me rests mostly with making the decisions for my character that determine his success or failure (as opposed to just having a thing for rolling dice), but not necessarily that I like extremely long dialogue. I generally keep my posts to a few sentences at most in those situations, unless there is some elaborate scheme I have in mind. I do, however, read the long posts, so do not think that we are simply uninterested in any social detail whatsoever.

That, and I'd like to see what the big fuss under the hill is about as quickly as possible, lest players start disappearing before the game even starts!

I suppose it would be easiest to tell you that I'm a wargamer who enjoys a spoonful of theatrics along the way.

I'm more of a design in play sort of player. I don't know much about Dax yet, but if he survives for a bit I'll learn more about him and will be interesting in more role playing. Let's see...so far I've learned that Dax is quiet, but given to short bursts of speech, he likes to sleep later than the cleric, curses when he shaves...shaves his beard, is a blonde (perhaps in more ways than one, but we'll have to see about that), and wants to let Random's PC make the plans...iows is looking at Random's character as a leader already. BTW, who is Random's character? Smile

I'm okay with getting equiped and "under the hill" pretty fast for some exploration and combat. If we survive there will be time for role playing later. That's my view on the subject anyway.

I must confess I'm probably more of a "roll" player than a "role" player, though I don't mind a little of the latter. I'd also like to get to the heart of the matter as quickly as possible. We're here to explore a dungeon and get the treasure. Smile

Check my sig for my character. It looks like most of us want to get into the dungeon and do or die.

As for party leader, I'm not sure we need one yet (or ever). I've been barking out as if it were me just because I have lots of questions and want us to have our ducks in a row before we go get our characters killed.

I do think we should designate a "caller," someone with perhaps a double or triple-strength vote with regard to which passageways to explore. We don't want to stop and have a three day argument at every intersection. Perhaps this position could rotate every month.

Just an FYI for everyone, pulled from the "Creating the Party" thread:

Every character starts with the following:

Set of clothing, bedroll, leather backpack, full waterskin

And, yes, you all now have a key as well.

A big P.S. to those who have already mentioned this:

The character in the signature idea is a brilliant one I intended to suggest after character generation was finished.

Thank you for suggesting it on the forum and providing some good models.

I already have a quicksheet for the important things I need to know about your characters, but I have noticed that players in online forums tend to forget that we don't all have photographic memories for PC names. Wink

[I used to make a list or suggest using index cards for this stuff at the game table...so this is an excellent, easy alternative.]

Send a PM if you need me to provide instructions on how to set a signature to your profile.

Ooo! I thought that the key went to the common room we're sleeping in...Dax hasn't tried it, but are you hinting that it does *not* go to that door in the inn?

No, everyone received a key to the common room. 6 keys, one for each of you.
