First order of business is breakfast. We will spend some time figuring out things such as marching order, any additional supplies we need, etc. It couldn't hurt to ask around the inn to see if any locals know anything about passages beneath the hill.

How far away is this hill from where we sit now?

Rodolphus rose earlier to perform his morning prayers and ablutions - getting a bowl of hot water from the kitchen, he carefully shaved both his face and his tonsure. Retrieving the small pouch of items from his pack, he goes to the east-most facing window and sets out an impromptu altar. He opens his book and begins the quiet prayers for 'Prime', and then celebrates the mass. If any others rise, he softly greets them and offers them a place with him before the altar. Mass finished, and the wine shared, he offers this benediction:
"Go in peace, children of the light,
Go in strength, children of the light,
May Crux guide our hands in our struggles ahead,
And guide our feet when he at last calls us home."

Carefully and reverently packing his simple items and stowing them in his pack, he gathers his gear and joins the others in the room below for breakfast.

Since it's shortly past dawn, the ground floor is empty except for Goodwife Gundigoot cooking in the kitchen.

Do you feel like bothering a Hobbit chef in her kitchen with lot of pots and pans ... and a mouth that could make a sailor blush?

[I'd be happy to roleplay that out with you. ;-P ]

Hmm...interesting how your window faces west though...

That's why he has a mace! Look, a new window, interior design, free of charge. Wink

OK, in the east side of the room, with a candle for light.

Maybe later. I doubt we'll get much out of her that is useful for the current situation. Naevius will simply eat and wait for Burne to arrive.

"Timeliness must not be this wizard's strong suit. Maybe we should just to this tunnel without him," Boden mumbles. "Is there any way I could get some ale with my breakfast? Longstanding family tradition, you know."

Dax groans and tries to cover his ears with the top of his bedroll, "Enough with the noise...argh!"

Finally, giving up the notion of sleeping later the big warrior sits up and stretches. Scratching at the blond stubble on his face he stands and walks over to the wash basin and splashes water about...mostly on himself...scrapes at his beard with his dagger, drawing blood a time or two and cursing each time, then finding the piss pot and relieving himself.

Feeling more awake now, Dax settles into his armor and goes downstairs.

"Let's break our fast, fast!" he says as he slides onto a bench at the long table where folks are eating, "We've got a date with a wizard to keep."

"Err? What'zat?" Dax mumbles with a mouth half filled with honeyed bread, "Marching order? Supplies?"

"Looks like we got us a thinking man, 'er." Dax clamps his new friend on the arm, "You plan for the both of us, eh?"

Naevius: "Something like that. It's not sensible wandering into a dark and murderous hole without appropriate preparation."

"Eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast, my favorite!" Gyff settles in for a hearty meal. "My shield'll go in front," he says between mouthfuls. "Mmmm, this is delicious."

"I'm with you brother!" Dax says with a grin between mouthfulls of food. Whether his comment is about the food or the order of march is unclear, but then you'll learn that Dax is often unclear. Smile

You all can see the Guard Tower from the window at the front of the Inn, looming atop a hill along the road east out the front door.

You estimate you can reach it in about 15 minutes.

The sky is getting brighter as the sun rises higher in the sky.

You suspect it's time to go to the Tower and meet your fate.
